Water maintenance in a hot tub and spa is very important. We are dealing with a small body of water where the temperature typically is maintained around 95-104 degrees.

Think of a hot tub and spa as an oversized bath tub, that you use over and over. A hot tub and spa water chemistry should be checked at least once a week for ph & chlorine balance. Test strips are easy to use and provide convenience for water testing, just follow the instructions that are included for that particular test strip.

Water should be checked more often for frequent and heavy usage. Your hot tub or spa water should eventually be changed due to high levels of calcium and contaminates that can pollute the water.

It is recommended that you change your water at least once every 2-4 months depending on usage. If the quality of the water deteriorates or smells bad even after trying to balance it, then it is time to change the water.
